Myofascial release is a safe and effective hands-on technique that treats muscular and connective tissue related pain. Myofascial release treats problems that occur with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves in the body that have restrictions or adhesions. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be due to a muscular or connective tissue adhesion, and can be subsequently resolved quickly and sometimes permanently with myofascial release. There are different ways to perform myofascial release that our physicians are familiar with to help treat your pain.
Each session of myofascial release is geared towards your body and its condition, so that the doctors can get your pain resolved and you can return to your quality of life.
Cause of Pain & Symptoms
Myofascial pain has two sources; the skeletal muscle or connective tissues that are bound by tight fascia. Pain can also be caused by damaged myofascial tissue itself. The restriction or contraction inhibits blood flow to the affected structures causing your pain and further tissue damage unless the area is treated.
- Tightness of the tissues that restricts motion or pulls the body out of alignment, causing individuals to favor and overuse one side of the body to compensate.
- A sense of excessive pressure on muscles or joints that produces pain.
- Pain in any part or parts of the body, including headache or back pain.
